53d Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance
The 53d Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance launches the concours season in Northern California. Mark your calendar for the 3d of May and plan to spend the day wandering our fields. We have over 25 classes of cars planned, so you will see everything from elegant examples of early 20th century style to burly, supercharged muscle cars. The showcase cars come from Post WWII Germany, so expect to see exceptional vehicles from Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Audi and Volkswagen, as well as more arcane marques. You'll see sleek Italian cars and quirky French cars and everything in between on this field, where the Parade d'Elegance commences at 1pm, followed by the awards presentation at 2.30.
We have partnered with the 49ers Foundation to present this year's show. Alumni players will be on hand to sign autographs, and the Gold Rush Girls will greet you as well. A raffle gives you the chance to win a 49ers 'experience'-just look for the Gold Rush Girls to buy your tickets.
People who love cars also love other 'things that go' so we have special displays to excite everyone. Our Green Vehicle exhibit will feature cars from Tango and bikes from Vectrix, and even a Beck replica Porsche that runs on batteries! (Check out Laurel B. Miranda's "Tales from the Road" on 3 of the Electric Cars!) We'll have a gorgeous display of vintage motorcycles from domestic and foreign producers. Watch for the antique and classic wooden boats, too.
Examples of race cars from the endurance series '24 Hours of LeMons' will show you what you can accomplish with a $500 car and a huge amount of imagination and elbow grease (and a sense of humor!) Our loyal new car dealers will also be on hand presenting the latest models from Lexus, BMW, Aston Martin and many many more.
Once you've worked up an appetite, satisfy it with tasty treats from El Pollo Loco and Carroll's Fine Meats, gourmet coffee and tea from Caffe a'Roma and Jamba Juice and Italian sodas from Seltzer Sisters.
Design students from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco will also be on hand to show their car models and sketches and discuss the design process and their inspiration with you.
Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 the day of the show. Children 14 and under attend free with a paid adult. Shuttle bus service is available from the CalTrain station in Burlingame and from West School, 376 Barbara Way and the Black Mountain Fire Station at the corner of Ralston Avenue and Black Mountain Roads, both in Hillsborough. Limited street parking is available. Paid on-site parking runs $40.
