Everything You Wanted To Know About The Cars, But Were Afraid To Ask
  • What: Palo Alto Concours d’Elegance Ramp Review
  • When: Sunday, June 28th 11AM
  • Where: Palo Alto, CA at Stanford

The 2009 Palo Alto Concours d’Elegance will showcase an incredible collection of outstanding automobiles. But, like fine wine or rare artwork, it can be difficult for the novice or enthusiast to understand and recognize the significance of certain vehicles. To help identify the truly unique automobiles, we’ve recruited two of the Bay Area’s top classic and collector car experts, Martin Swig and Conrad Stevenson.

Martin is known as one of California’s consummate ‘car guys’. Retired from the import auto dealership business, Martin often participates in a variety of national and international events. He owns a significant collection of vintage automobiles, some of which he and his wife Esta regularly take out on the racetrack. Every year, Martin organizes a series of collector car tours along some of California’s most stunning roads. His most popular and recognized event, accredited by Italy’s Mille Miglia, is the California Mille, which covers no less than 1000 miles over four days.

Conrad has been involved with automotive preparation, racing and restoration since 1975. He owns a restoration shop devoted primarily to classic Alfa Romeos. Conrad has attended and participated in several of Italy’s Mille Miglia events and has been one of the chase mechanics for the California Mille. Having seen many of the great marques in action, Conrad has become intimately familiar with their strengths and weaknesses. He understands the time and effort that goes into the care, preservation and restoration of these automobiles.

Martin and Conrad will personally select a number of outstanding vehicles to be driven across The Ramp. They’ll discuss the qualities that make these automobiles significant, as well as interview their current owners.

So, take a seat, kick back, and join us in the bleachers for The Ramp Review at 11AM on Sunday, June 28th. You’ll learn a great deal, not only about fine automobiles in general, but also what makes these particular examples worthy of our understanding and appreciation.
