My 2002 Cadillac Escalade is the best thing since, well, sliced bread. It is reliable, safe, and powerful. Its 6.0 liter engine boats eight cylinders. The Escalade's fuel economy is rather poor, however, any owner of this beast accepts that as its nature. There is a gauge for just about everything; oil pressure, tachometer, voltmeter, coolant and transmission temperature. I also enjoy the air condition, the kids like the rear air conditioning, power steering, power windows, door locks, and mirrors, tilt wheel, cruise control and Onstar.
The Escalade's seats are leather and extremely comfortable. There are powered knobs that control the seat positions. To assist the smaller person in mounting this horse, the vehicle offers running boards. I have never had automatic all wheel drive in a car before, and I thoroughly appreciate it. The four wheel drive capability kicks in whenever the car feels it needs more wheel power.
There is a lot of room under the Escalade's hood. Any professional, or weekend driveway, mechanic will appreciate this. I have replaced the front brake pads three times in the past four years, and the rear once. This Cadillac is extremely heavy. As such, the short life of brake pads is not a surprise. The lift gate is heavy, which is easy to raise with the built in assist, but a struggle to lower. Smaller people, or those less physically inclined, may have a problem with it. I have found, though, the Escalade is large enough to place groceries on the third bench seat.
